What’s the best thing about Slovenian Alps? Everything is so close and the nature is mesmerizing. A perfect summer getaway when you get tired of crowded beaches and the city heat. If you’re in Ljubljana, just rent a car and drive for about 1 hour to get to the first destination in this itinerary.

Kranjska Gora. Small town so rich with the natural beauty, ski slopes and two amazing lakes. The one below is my favorite, surrounded by Slovenian Alps and forests.  You can park almost in front of the lake. And if you come early enough you can listen to the beautiful melody orchestrated by wild animals walking around, like capricorns, birds and other wild life. During the summer there is also a beach bar and sun beds. Do not forget to bring your swimsuit.

Five minutes car ride will get you to another transparent lake with amazing view, called Zelenci, which can be translated into “Greenish”. It is also reachable by bike, which is probably the best transport choice. Just sit down and enjoy the beauty and the calmness of this place.

Scenery road. Even If you don’t want to get to the other side of the mountain, which I strongly suggest (see pictures below), you need to ride over this mountain pass – Vrsic. The scenery here is out of this world, you can stop and take pictures on almost every turn. Just below the highest point there is this beautiful spot where people are building this stone sculptures. Don’t forget to stop here and build your own!

Most amazing river on earth. If you are following my steps, the road will get you to this beautiful emerald river called Soca. It just offers everything – the views, clear drinkable water, water sports like kayaking, canyoning, swimming or just sun bathing on one of many white sand beaches.

Where to stay? Few hundred meters away from the source of Soca river you can stay in this beautiful hotel, offering just few rooms, no car access and a lot of fresh air. Just turn off your phone and be ready to spoil yourself. They also offer so many outdoor activities and trips.
